IPN Student Spotlight: Sahil Lauji, Junior at Harvard University

Sahil is a junior at Harvard University, concentrating in Government, and pursuing a Secondary in Islamic Studies. He is interested in US foreign policy, law, and combating inequality. At Harvard, he is involved in the Institute of Politics, several cultural organizations, Model Congress, and is spearheading Harvard’s first low-income, first-generation pre-orientation program.

Here’s what Sahil is up to this summer: “I am grateful to be interning in both the Performance and Civil Rights office at the US Department of Commerce. I am helping spearhead two trailblazing initiatives for the federal government.” Using his passion and experience in supporting marginalized college students, he will spearhead the US Government’s first first-generation professional conference with the Civil Rights office. For the Performance Office, he will ensure the government is more data-driven and open to the public by creating a data-driven domain of the US economy and business sectors. He is excited about the projects: “This opportunity has truly allowed me to see the inner workings of the government that the public is rarely aware of. I hope to use the knowledge and skills from this experience for my own career.” Congratulations Sahil and good luck on your career ahead!
