Jamil Rehemtulla

IPN Student Spotlight: Jamil Rehemtulla, Senior at Michigan State University

Jamil is originally from Detroit, and currently studies Supply Chain Management at Michigan State University. In the summer of 2019, he interned with Whirlpool Corporation. Jamil was a part of the Global Supply Chain Leadership Development Program internship. The program is intended to provide visibility into how a Global Supply Chain functions through providing the responsibility of managing a specific area of the Supply Chain. Jamil was focusing on electromechanical procurement, where he had to analyze and develop global strategy, identify cost saving opportunities, and consolidate & standardize the supplier base to improve service and quality. 

As Jamil graduates in May 2020, he will be moving to Seattle, Washington, where he will be a Program Manager for Microsoft. He will also be taking part in a Masters of Science Degree in Marketing Research from Michigan State University. Lastly he’ll also be expanding his non-profit called Aloo, which he started during his third year of university.

Arisha Ali

IPN Student Spotlight: Arisha Ali, Senior at Trinity University

Arisha is from the Southeast region. Over the summer of 2019, she interned with the Mellon Initiative as a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow. 

As a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow, Arisha had the opportunity to contribute to a book-length project about the education of Muslim leaders in accredited North American institutions. This project analyzes impact of multifaith educational models on the development of North American Muslim leaders, such as Muslim chaplains, pastors, and spiritual caregivers. Arisha’s interest lies in how religious groups, such as Sikhs and Muslims, face hate crimes, and hopes to work in the non-profit sector to combat these issues. Her professional goals are to earn a Ph.D. in the field of Islamic Studies, continue working in the non-profit sector, and continue the legacy of professors by inspiring students to continue to learn about marginalized groups. Congratulations Arisha on your achievements, and good luck on the road to your Ph.D!

Sara Panjwani

IPN Student Spotlight: Sara Panjwani, Senior at the University of Texas, Austin

Sara is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but has spent the last four years at The University of Texas at Austin. Sara is currently pursuing a BBA in Marketing and a minor in Arts Management and Administration. Sara was recently named a Forbes 30 Under 30 Scholar during 2019! 

In the summer of 2019, Sara had the opportunity to intern at Frito-Lay, PepsiCo in the Dallas Fort-Worth area. During her internship, she served on the Front End Innovations (FEI) Team as a Marketing Intern. Being on the FEI Team, she had the opportunity to see how billion dollar brands are created from ideation to consumer testing, all the way to commercialization. Specifically, she worked on evaluating a new potential product that would be a disruptive innovation for the Frito-Lay portfolio. She created a market share analysis, identified long term growth potential and ran a series of concept tests with consumer research agencies to present a final recommendation on whether or not the company should invest resources in this product. 

Prior to her Internship at Frito-Lay, Sara spent the summer of 2018 interning at Anheuser-Busch working in their Innovation Department in St. Louis and New York. Congratulations Sara on all your accomplishments!

Sahil Lauji

IPN Student Spotlight: Sahil Lauji, Junior at Harvard University

Sahil is a junior at Harvard University, concentrating in Government, and pursuing a Secondary in Islamic Studies. He is interested in US foreign policy, law, and combating inequality. At Harvard, he is involved in the Institute of Politics, several cultural organizations, Model Congress, and is spearheading Harvard’s first low-income, first-generation pre-orientation program.

Here’s what Sahil is up to this summer: “I am grateful to be interning in both the Performance and Civil Rights office at the US Department of Commerce. I am helping spearhead two trailblazing initiatives for the federal government.” Using his passion and experience in supporting marginalized college students, he will spearhead the US Government’s first first-generation professional conference with the Civil Rights office. For the Performance Office, he will ensure the government is more data-driven and open to the public by creating a data-driven domain of the US economy and business sectors. He is excited about the projects: “This opportunity has truly allowed me to see the inner workings of the government that the public is rarely aware of. I hope to use the knowledge and skills from this experience for my own career.” Congratulations Sahil and good luck on your career ahead!

Nahek Hussain

IPN Student Spotlight: Nahek Hussain, Senior at Penn State University

Nahek is currently studying Marketing and Management at Penn State University, and will be graduating in 2020. In the summer of 2019, Nahek interned for Wrklyf as a Marketing and Sales Intern. The Ismaili Entrepreneur who founded Wrklyf reached out to Ismaili Professionals Network, and after providing a shortlist, Nahek was selected by the Wrklyf team. During his internship, he created social media accounts, directed marketing endeavors, created multiple Facebook campaigns targeting different segments in retail and office worker space, sent onboarding emails and SMS flow for new and trial users, and created a video screencast showing how to use the app. This was Nahek’s 3rd internship in the Marketing/Technology industry. He is currently seeking full time opportunities in the marketing industry, and is considering pursuing an MBA later in his career.  Congratulations Nahek on all your achievements thus far!

Ashianna Jetha

IPN Student Spotlight: Ashianna Jetha, Senior at Georgetown University

Ashianna is a graduating senior at Georgetown University. Over the summer of 2019, Ashianna interned at Meridian Health Plans, where she served as a Medicare Strategy Intern. In her role, she had the opportunity to analyze member-level data to strategize clinical and member interventions to improve health outcomes and quality. In the future, she hopes to continue working in a similar capacity, and find a role that allows her to use her skills in analytics and passion for healthcare to ultimately improve peoples’ health outcomes.

Ashish Marediya

IPN Student Spotlight: Ashish Marediya, Graduate Student at Texas A&M University

Ashish graduated with a degree in economics from Texas A&M University in 2018, and is now a Masters of Finance graduate student, planning to graduate in 2020. He is interested in financial services, particularly investment/asset management.

In the summer of 2019, Ashish interned at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS). During this time, he reviewed 500+ Investment General Partner financial reports and documented key areas of control and assurance, and analyzed the NAVs of funds using an audit matrix. He also reconciled investment information from General Partners and custodian banks to detect differences in wire transfers, and also surveyed them to understand differences in reported values. Additionally, he assisted in the review, analysis, and implementation of GASB accounting standards, and was involved in the preparation of internal Investment reports to reveal the compliance of General Partners by comparing the methods used in financial reports to the stated methods in the Independent Auditor’s Report. Lastly, Ashish presented his project introducing efficiency of Robotic Process Automation in audit processes to cut costs and free employees to perform higher value-added work.

His future plans include beginning his career as an investment analyst, and working his way up to becoming a portfolio manager, and eventually a managing director of public markets at an investment firm. We’re rooting for you, Ashish!

Inaara Padani

IPN Student Spotlight: Inaara Padani, Senior at Emory University

Inaara is a senior at Emory University, pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration, with concentrations in Strategy & Management Consulting, and Information Systems & Operations Management. Additionally, she is majoring in Human Health. In the summer of 2019, she worked as a General Management Summer Associate at Aetna, a CVS Health Company. In her internship, she supported the Commercial Business Operations Integrity (CBOI) Team by reading various reports released by State Insurance Departments to determine healthcare trends and isolate areas with high risk of financial penalties. She communicated her insights to the CBOI team to help them refine prioritization and guide their business strategy. She also performed a turnaround time analysis on completed internal audit projects and brainstormed initiatives to mitigate delays. As part of the overall internship program’s Capstone Project Competition, she led a team of seven through the consulting process to pitch recommendations to PayFlex that centered around designing a new product to facilitate student loan repayments. Her team ended up winning the competition!

Her previous summer internships included a graphic design internship at Raytheon and a cardiology research intern at Baylor Scott & White Health.

Inaara’s short-term career goals include jump starting a career in general management consulting, and potentially healthcare consulting as my career progresses. Awesome work, Inaara!

Rumeer Keshwani

IPN Student Spotlight: Rumeer Keshwani, Senior at Babson College

Rumeer is a senior at Babson College, where he is concentrating in Finance and Business Analytics. He completed an internship as an Investment Analyst at ff Venture Capital, a seed and early stage Venture Capital fund with $180M in assets under management in New York City during the summer of 2019. During his internship, he had the opportunity to work directly with CEOs and CFOs to adjust go-to-market growth strategies. Rumeer worked on three closed deals this summer, and was also tasked with researching quantum computing, construction technology, artificial intelligence, and drones/robotics. Prior to this experience, Rumeer had a variety of experiences, ranging from door-to-door sales, co-founding a start-up, to working at a private equity firm. Congratulations, Rumeer!

Iman Lalani

IPN Student Spotlight: Iman Lalani, Senior at the University of Texas at San Antonio

Iman is majoring in Cybersecurity and Information Systems, and minoring in Digital Forensics. During the summer of 2019, she interned with Charles Schwab in San Francisco as a Digital Services intern. Through this experience, she was able to learn, contribute to and create projects that helped improve user efficiency and experiences by creating value to the customers. Additionally, she gained valuable analytical and technical skills. Currently, she’s studying for her CompTIA Security+ which she hopes to obtain by the end of the year, and holds various leadership roles in the Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity. As graduation approaches, she hopes to find a job within the realms of forensics, and work for a company that aligns with her personal goals, morals and ethics. Best of luck, Iman!
